 Letters from our patients

August 26, 2008

Dear Dr. Eastman:

I am writing you this letter in hope that when another patient comes to see you, becomes apprehensive as I was, scared of going through the treatment and pain, that you will show this to them.

As you know I have has periodontal disease since my early twenties.  I had surgery when I was 30 years old and decided i would never go through it again.  For the past 20 years i have had my teeth cleaned every six months, doing everything i could keep them but knowing I would eventually loose them.  I am the youngest of 12 children and the only one that has her teeth.

I moved to Florida, found a dentist and when I had my examination they told me that I would have to see a periodontal Specialist as they could not help me.  They referred me to you.  From the moment I walked in your office I was treated by your staff as if I were the only patient.  Their kindness and professionalism was something I had not seen before.  Then of course I met you.  The time you spent with me, explaining everything so that I could understand and then forwarding it to my dentist.  After receiving your letter and the treatment you had suggested he called me and told me he could do the same thing for less money.  I made an appointment to see him but in my heart I knew I was making a mistake.  I told him I would think about it and I honestly said to myself, I will just let it be and when they fallout I will deal with it then.  I then got a call from your office that you would like to see me again and to bring my husband.  It was my husband that talked me into going to see you one more time.  We talked about treatment, the importance of keeping my teeth, the money factor and after all the discussions we had I made the decision to have the surgery.  I made that decision based on my complete faith in you and your staff.

On the morning of my surgery I was put at such ease by Mary.  What a wonderful person she is, very caring.  You promised me that I would not feel any pain.  I arrived at your office at 8am and I woke up in my bed at 5pm, not remembering anything.  It is so important that your patients know this as I believe it is the total fear of pain that people will not have this done.

In closing just want you to know that I can not thank you enough in helping me make such a huge decision on saving my teeth.  As big as the investment was I know that I made the right decision in having it done and of choosing the perfect one to do it.

Please feel free to use my name and number for anyone that is as scared as I was and needs someone on the outside to reassure them  It was a large financial decision I made but it was the best investment money can buy, investing in myself.

I came to Dr. Eastman with a serious case of periodontal disease and dental fear. I had recurring nightmares of losing my teeth. Dr. Eastman and staff were kind, considerate and non-judgmental. Along with two implants, serious periodontal surgeries were in store for me.  I placed my trust in them and my dental fear has vanished along with my periodontal disease. I know aggressive maintenance is now required but I am happy to say that I no longer dread or postpone periodontal or dental appointments as I once did. This is all due to Dr. Eastman- and his staff. I would recommend him to anyone in need of periodontal care. They really do care.

I could go on and on.

Dear Dr. Eastman,

Thank you for giving me a new lease on life, with my wonderful dental implants!  I was told a few years ago, by my dentist in Ontario, that I was not a candidate for implants of any kind, because of my lack of maxillary bone.

You told me that it was indeed possible to have implants and also that it could be a painless procedure.  Well, you certainly lived up to your word with "Teeth in an Hour".

Following the few months of healing from the bone grafting......also painless......I left your office with brand new teeth!  Although I had to wear temporary bridgework for a short time, I was still able to eat almost everything.  Now, with my permanent implants, I CAN eat anything.  To have my palate back and to enjoy the taste of food in a whole new way is almost indescribable.

I can say in all honestly, I have not had any pain with any of the procedures and only a very slight tissue irritation for a day or two from the bone grafting.  I felt no discomfort whatsoever, during the bone grafting or during the actual implantation.  Your and your wonderful staff made sure that I was comfortable and relaxed each step of the way.

I can't thank you enough!  Please feel free to use a final photo for any advertising or educational purposes.

Best regards,

Sue H.

Dr. Dr. Eastman & Staff:

I am so pleased Dr. Gy Yatros referred me to you and your equally professional staff members - definitely my good fortune.  The extensive surgery required for multiple implants, while challenging, was completed in only 3 hours & without a hitch.  Recover was swift and.... I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH THE RESULTS!  Thank you, Thank you!

Your dedication to me as a new patient is all the more impressive given you took time away from your four children during their spring break.  Few others would be as willing and my thanks to them for their sacrifices.

Blessings All -

Dear Patient:

I have been a patient of Dr. Eatman's for 16 years.  I was probably one of his most apprehensive patients ever!  In fact, I think they have VVAP on my records.  that means "Very, very apprehensive patient."

I had an extremely bad dentist as a child that did not believe in any kind of pain suppressant & consequently I experienced a lot of pain during appointments with him.

As an adult I avoided going to the dentist until it was almost too late.  I had extensive surgery for bone loss done by Dr. Eastman.  For some time my follow-up visits required "laughing gas" & a gum pain control to keep me calm enough to work on my teeth.  That's all part of my past now due to the skills and patient care of Dr. Eastman and his entire staff.

My only problem now is that I travel 1400 miles round trip to see Dr. Eastman every six months for my regular follow-ups.  You see we've moved to North Carolina and although I have changed my regular dentist, I've refused to even look for another periodontist!  I don't know how much longer my husband will continue to make this trip for me, but I may resort to flying, if necessary.

Sincerely -

To Lindsay Eastman and Staff:

Last year I was referred to your office for periodontal work.  My gums were sore all the time and would bleed every time I brushed my teeth.

From the moment I came into your office, I was treated with such professionalism and kindness I just had to write this letter to you and your staff.  Everyone from the reception area, billing, assistants and hygienists have been so pleasant in addition to doing an excellent job.

But most of all I must commend Dr. Eastman for his magnificent work.  After my examination by Dr. Eastman he explained in detail what was wrong with my gums and what needed to be done to fix them.  The explanation was in terms I could understand and not a bunch of medical terms.  I also found out that my upset stomachs were a result of gum disease.

The procedure was to graft healthy gum tissue to replace the diseased tissue.  I have to say that the procedure was completely painless with a little discomfort afterwards.

Today my gums are pink and healthy.  I no longer experience the upset stomachs nor do my gums bleed when I brush my teeth.

Again, I want to thank Dr. Eastman and his entire staff for their professionalism, great attitude and pleasantry.

Sincerely,

Veronica DiLucchio

Dear. Dr. Eastman:

I am sorry for taking so long to write.  Pick an excuse, but here goes.  You guys are absolutely the best!  Not just for a periodontal office but for any office that I have ever been to.  From the moment that I walked in the door until the moment that I staggered out (so I am told), I met nothing but friendly, professional, helpful people.  I would highly recommend you to anyone that needed your services.  It really was the little things that added up like asking if I needed a blanket, a brace for my neck, nitrous oxide, calling me that night to check up on me, giving me your home phone if I needed to call.  I really was very impressed and I truly want to thank you and all of your staff for the wonderful treatment that I received.

Thanks once again for a job well done.

Sincerely,

Dear Dr. Eastman:

Just a follow up note to acknowledge what a wonderful staff you have.

You and your staff all get 100% for impeccable professionalism.  David stated that the excellent medical care along with all the kindness he encountered at your practice is just not replaceable.

As his wife sitting in the waiting room, I discovered all your patients think that you are the best too.

Thank you so much for the experience.

Sincerely,

David and Laura Burdette

I look forward o many more years of dedicated service from you and your staff.  I think you should go to my home state of Maine and teach our dentists about "bedside manners."  You staff is outstanding!

Dear. Dr. Eastman:

It has been five years since I received my dental implants.  I feel my well-being and health have so greatly improved since the inception of my implanted bridge, having coped for so many years with failing bridges and deteriorating teeth.

I am thrilled with how natural my teeth look and feel.and accept compliments most happily.

I have onl praise for you and your staff for excellent care I received during the implantation process and the continued care following.  your expressed concern, kindness and availability during the healing process was and is most appreciated.

I am most certainly an advocate for implantation.  This based on the results as well as the process itself.  I found the pain associated with the process to be, frankly, minimal.  The healing process, while ling, was relatively painless.  The temporary bridge provided was comfortable and looked very good.

I would be most happy to be a referral to anyone interested in having implantations.

Most sincerely,

Marcy Gobell

Dr. Eastman and Staff:

I would like to thank you for making my dental visits with you free of the fear I've always had in the past.  your staff were all great, friendly and kind and put me at east.  That meant a lot to me.  Believe me, you don't find that many places.

I would especially like to thank Dr. Eastman for giving me back good oral health.  You were so gentle and caring and most of all pain-free.

I will always be so thankful for discovering you.  you are one in a million.

Sincerely,

Barbara Watson

Dear Dr. Eastman:

My wife, Amy J. Edelkind, is a new patient of yours.  On Monday, august 9th, she underwent the first of a few "deep scaling" procedures.  Later on that evening I received a telephone call from your hygienist, Cheri.  Cheri inquired as to my wife's condition.

Dr. Eastman, my wife has been through three Cesarean operations and I have NEVER received a telephone call from the doctor's office inquiring about her health.

You have no idea how pleased I am with the professionalism shown by your staff in this situation.  Why more medical professionals don't follow up with their patients is beyond me.  Most physicians leave the communication end of the doctor/patient relationship in the hands of the patient.  It is certainly refreshing to deal with a physician who cares enough about their patients to initiate communication, especially after a surgical procedure, even a ?minor' one.

You and your staff have ensured that my family and I will continue to use your services whenever needed.  I will also recommend you to any friends and co-workers.

Thank you for your professionalism,

Shane Edelkind

I know this little note is late in coming.  But time flies by so fast.  I want to thank you and your wonderful staff for making me so comfortable.  As you know, I am deathly afraid of the DENTIST   until I was fortunate enough to be sent to you.  Under your care I walked into your office and was greeted so warmly and the next think I knew I was leaving your office with all the work done and no pain.  Who would have thought periodontal surgery was so easy.

Thank you very much for having such a wonderful staff.  They were all so kind to me.  I know this is a little late in coming but I just want to thank you again for being so nice to me and taking such good care of my teeth and me.

Sincerely,

Carol Nelson

Dr. Eastman and his staff:

I just want to say thanks to Dr. Eastman and his very professional and caring staff.  I only had the pleasure of meeting Jodi, Nicole, Carol, Shelly, Julliane and Brett but I am sure the others are just as pleasurable to be around.  My first experience was in 1987 when I was diagnosed with periodontal disease.  I had bone loss and had tissue grafting done on my lower front.  I was told that hopefully I would keep my lower front teeth for about 5 to 7 years at best.  I have been doing maintenance every 3 months and now 15 years later I still have my teeth.  Earlier this year my dentist, Dr. Parker, who I admire very much, had some concerns and suggested that I see my periodontist.  Of course,  I returned to Eastman and staff.  Research has come a long way with this disease and now able to control it with antibiotics.  The one point I want to make is that Dr. Eastman and his staff treated me with the same care and concern now as they did 15 years ago.  I never really felt like a "patient" per say.  They make you feel like you are a part of their family.  I have never felt more welcomed than by these wonderful people. I tell everyone about Eastman's office.  Thanks again to everyone.  See you on my next checkup.
